Meet Mutemath
The show is just 2 days away! See you Thursday!
Big thanks to The Art Store in Syracuse for the help framing and matting the 3 prints for the Strictly Local artist gallery that opens on Thursday. Here is a sneak peak! Oh, and while dropping off the work last night I saw the other creative work on the walls….the show is gonna be great!
Gallery opening! Be there Jan 26

Two doses of The Barr Brothers
They have been in a band called The Slip which I like very much. Their tunes “Honey Melon” and “Johnny’s Tune” especially. Turns out they are still creating new music and here are two of my favorites of which there are videos to accompany them. The first one is a blues romp and the second is atmospheric to start then starts into music that is perfect for driving...

Warren Miller's ....like there's no tomorrow film
Went with my Dad to see the 62th Warren Miller ski film at the Landmark Theatre in Syracuse. The film was great and I scored free lift tickets to Gore Mtn, Greek Peak and Sugarbush. Now I just need to be sure to remember to use them. (redeem here)
The Landmark Theatre has recently undergone a multi-million dollar renovation. Ya couldn’t tell by walking around the public space (they need...

Avett Brothers cover a tune on CMT
In this clip from the Avett Brothers’ appearance for CMT Unplugged, the alt-country band perform a faithful rendition of Roger Miller’s 1969 single “Where Have All the Average People Gone?” The song may be over 40 years old, but its sentiment about feeling lost in a world where the gulf between the rich and poor becomes wider all the time is even more relevant now than...

Radiohead: singing and dancing
Yeah, Radiohead has gotten crafty again in the way they promote and distribute their album. The lead single, Lotus Flower, has Thom dancing and hand clapping by himself…well, him and his hat.
I also learned of live show they did in Prague where the audience members recorded it. The first tune from the show was 15 Steps. Speaking of which, if you haven’t seen the audience shot...

Upstate NY winery: Red Tail Ridge
Last weekend I went with Renee and my Gram to a wine tasting at the Savvy Wine Cellar in Camillus, NY. One of the wines was from a relatively new, forward thinking winery called Red Tail Ridge. The video above talks about the winery.
We picked up a bottle of their Good Karma wine (review) which a portion of proceeds go to Foodlink. Foodlink’s mission statement is to build a...

Maybe your home is The Cave
This is Mumford & Sons cool official video (above), for their tune, The Cave, then them playing the Grammy’s this year. Then the Avett’s play (also worth watching), before Bob Dylan comes out to sing Maggie’s Farm. I like the original, but you can press “stop” on the YouTube video player once you see him step stage.

Party at Ferris
Last night Amy and Mike hosted a party at their new place on Ferris. Cool house built before the turn of the century, and Mike was spinning some jazz/ reggae stuff that even Tommy the Turtle could dance to. I haven’t got any photos to share, but I have this to bridge the gap. Thank Ferris.

Music interviews by a guy who knows music,...
The singer from Blink182 has a music based talked show on Fuse.tv. I don’t have Fuse or a TV so it’s up to what I find online that fills my time (aside from other recreational activities). There are really good videos from Travie (from Gym Class Heroes), John Mayer being hyper aware of himself, and my personal favorite interview, Thomas Mars from the band Phoenix. See above.
