Red Hot Chili Peppers on Live From Abbey Road!
Is it just me, or does the drummer look like he could be Will Ferrell’s brother?
RHCP perform on the Sundance Channel program, Live From Abbey Road.
It’s a great show, poke around YouTube for other performances from other bands.

Nick, rest easy.
Yeah the weekend was good. The week itself ended on a sad note when a fellow West Genny alum passed early. Mom and I went to the wake. It was good to see an outpouring of people that were part my childhood. Nick, the departed, must have been smiling down and not necessarily because people waited out in the cold and through the maze of the funeral home. Rather because his friends came from...

The Goot Bar
Yeah, I’m looking at houses. And what does any good house have? Yes, besides a hot tub. A bar.
I don’t need the big bar with Harley Davidson signs everywhere (right, CG?)….but I would like a cool cabinet for my bottles, glasses and barware to call home. Enter option number one: the Gunning Bar Box. Pretty rad, huh?

STREET ART: Stencil Terrorists_Portugal
You prob know Banksy. It was his stencil work that I first found interesting. I came across these images on the Stencil Terrorist site. Portugal kids enjoy having fun with English words and cautionary signs, I guess.

Johnny loves him some popcorn

POPCORN POPPING TIP:
Before making popcorn on the stove or in an air popper, soak the kernels in water for 10 minutes. Drain the water, then pop as normal. The additional moisture helps the popcorn pop up quicker and fluffier with fewer un-popped kernels.

WINE CELLAR: Because I like trap doors.
Let’s say, on the off chance I don’t get a chance to date a girl whose family owns a winery…I need some way to have a cool wine cellar. What is a guy to do? Looks like I found one option.

HOUSE HUNTING: Where to call home?
Now that I’ve seemingly found myself in Syracuse to live and work it’s about time that I find my own place. My dad and I went out Friday night to three different parts of town. One to see an illusionist at the Palace Theater, then headed to Shifty’s to hear a band and then ended up at Mac’s for a drink where I ran into an old friend.
Dad and I chatted about each part of...

FILM: Paris, Je T'Aime
18 stories, one city.
If you’ve ever thought of going to Paris, or for some reason have built up a list of excuses why you couldn’t go, this film will motivate you to finally get your passport. I’ll let the still frames do the talking.

FILM: 2 Days in Paris
Not Hilton.
Netflix and I are getting along and I have been enjoying the occasional independent film every now and again. The service beats going to a movie rental place where all ya have is shelves of movies with little help from the 40 year old/or 16 year old girl behind the desk. With Netflix you get to dive a little deeper than what the back of the DVD box has to say. Plus when you are...

FOOD: Honeyed Mango and Chicken Saute
I was watching the Food Network with The Jess over the weekend and up came Aida Mollenkamp on my radar. She has a new show called, Ask Aida. Cute girls who cook. That’s enough to keep my attention…and I think she’s hotter than Giada….I’m just saying.
I’m headed to the grocery store to pick up some things before I make Honeyed Mango and Chicken Saute with...

FILM: Glastonbury
There are three things that I have a soft spot for: live music events, documentaries and England. GLASTONBURY, the film, captures all three and does so in a pretty convincing way that brings a smile to my face.
I find that when wandering through new territory, whether it be physical space or a new conversation/interaction, that music breaks the ice better than a joke. So in an effort to feel...

Obama + cocktails = carrying on in good company
artwork by my cousin, Anne Smoral
Since Obama has taken office I actually look forward to reading the news. I was reading an article today on slate.com about how Obama recently invited congressional leaders of both parties for cocktails at the White House.
I knew that George W. Bush had kicked the bottle when he was 40, but you’d think that if there was ever a time to sneak a sip...
