EVENT: Ignite Syracuse at Opus, comedy at Ohm
Last week I took The Jess, my younger sister, out for a night of bar hopping around Armory Square in downtown Syracuse. It was a way to see what’s going on in Syracuse and to spend some time better getting to know my only sibling.
Our night out found us at three bars with three very different scenes; Opus, Empire Brewing Co., and Ohm Lounge.
Opus hosted the first Ignite Syracuse event....

VIDEO: WHITE RABBITS - PERCUSSION GUN
White Rabbits “Percussion Gun” Music Video from White Rabbits on Vimeo.
This is easily one of the best music videos I’ve seen in a while. Directed by Andrew Droz Palermo for White Rabbits. As the site Bands & Design says: “The set design is fabulous and so simple; an impressive idea all round. It’s proof that if you take time in the set-up great ideas can be fully...

VIDEO: intro to "Californication"
The show stars the character Hank Moody….a drunk writer who happens to land a lot of really attractive ass. It’s a really well written show that is on Showtime. I like the intro very much….hence why I posted it. Enjoy and check out the show here. But please start with Season One.

VIDEO: John Varvatos
I thank Dupes for turning me onto John Varvatos when we met up in Chicago. I picked up some of his cologne (which I seem to have lost), and currently have a pair of green slip on Converse by Varvatos that I’ve worn down. He’s got a cool style and prides himself on having a rock & roll vibe to his clothing line. Peep the video for a tour of his storefront in the Bowery in the...

DEsign: Courtyard by Marriott, new lobby
So it seems a lot of my friends don’t really know what I do for work now that I’m not living out of a suitcase. It’s nice that you care. So to help answer the question…I sell high-end architectural millwork and case goods to corporate clients and general contractors nationwide.
The current marketing strategy I’ve been working on is for Marriott International, specifically for the...

TRAVELS: Day Three_Drinks, Pool, PF Chang's, DMB @...
Jess, Fallon and I spent the afternoon getting some sun. No sun burn for this kid. Thank you Evian Brumisateur and Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Dry-Touch Sunblock SPF 45.
Some quality time in the pool meant raisin’ed fingers and toes. We grabbed dinner and cocktails at PF Chang’s, where I realized Beef Short Ribs have a special place in my stomach. Then it was off to the Dave Matthews...

TRAVELS: Day Two_Food, Drinks, Show at the Wynn
When dinner time came, Natalie’s parents hosted the bday dinner at Koi in Planet Hollywood. The sushi was great as was the plum wine, the view and the company. We had this private room to ourselves.
After dinner we went over to the Wynn Las Vegas to see the show, LE RÊVE. It’s French for “The Dream” as I found out just now after googling. As the AP says….“Le...

TRAVELS: Day One_Arriving in Vegas
I arrive and am told by Fallon that Paul was waiting for me just outside the airport and would bring me to her and Natalie’s pre-bday party at LAX in the Luxor. I figure, cool, game on….I wish she was gonna pick me up, but I’d see her soon enough. I call Paul, he tells me where to go and opens the door to the sickest custom limo ever. It was sitting high in the air, the bass...

FOOD: I Shot The Chef (food blog)
I like eating. I like reading about cooking. I enjoy going to the grocery store and chatting with random people in the aisle about where a certain item on my list might be (usually it’s strategic in my choosing whom I talk to). I like the idea of having friends over for dinner. I don’t understand when people can’t take 30 minutes out of their day for coffee/tea....

PHOTO: John Carl Photography
I was bumming around notcot.org this evening and came across a post about photographer, John Carl. On his site he has photos of bands that he is working with. At one time I fancied myself to be a photographer, maybe tour with a big band, document life on the road, maybe in my off time photograph a wedding every now and again for friends (or friends of friends)….
I was actually on that...

FILM: Wall-E
Who doesn’t like animation? Especially work done by Disney / Pixar Animation Studios. Go ahead, raise your hand. *waiting* You can’t, can you?
It’s amazing to me that they can create a whole new world and that you can get completely engulfed in it. Sorta like Disney does with their parks. Oh, and to give it all context, I saw the movie last night without eating popcorn....
