VIDEO: Zimtstern "Leaves"
With the warm-ish weather this last week I thought this video was going to be foreshadowing this weekends ski trip. Now that the snow finally started falling again I can kiss that idea goodbye, but it doesn’t mean we can’t dig this clever video from Zimtstern (see below). If ya wonder how they did it click here.

MUSIC VIDEO: Black Joe Lewis & The Honeybears "I'm...
Meet Black Joe Lewis and the Honeybears from Austin, TX. I like their “garage soul” tune “I’m Broke”, and specifically the verse:
“I got a job at MickyD’s / working me so so hard /
they f*cking me with no grease”
And the video treatment to the song is pretty eye catching as well. Nice work Mr. Lewis and the Honeybears. Oh, and turns out they...

Photos by Gregor Collienne
What is it about photogs/artists from Europe lately? I can’t seem to get enough….meet the work of Gregor Collienne. It’s getting me motivated to start bringing my camera with me more often.
Must have been one hell of a ride to the top.
Friendly reminder…not all men are full of hot air as depicted above.
Reminds me of Ava pushing the shopping cart.

Photo of the day: A half black diamond
Amazing day of skiing, and yeah, it would have been nice to have a photo of the blue skies and everyone being in a good mood….but how often do you see this? Half a black diamond? Now if only you could have see the faces of the kids when the chairlift stopped and sent us swinging.
This Saturday was the third in six where I’ve been volunteering with the ARISE & Ski. As taken...

ART: Illustrator Alexander Jansson
As quoted on the original post (translated) “Illustrator Alexander Jansson taps into the mystical and dark. At first glance, one might think that his work was frightening, but if you look there are a lot of pleasure in reading every detail. This Swedish artist frees us of magic and magical landscapes without falling into cutesy style. It emanates from these projects a certain...

Travel: Watching the clouds in Paris
Paris Vol. 4 from The Seventh Movement on Vimeo.
…and no passport required! My favorite part is around 1:45 to 2:15….and the syncing of the light and beat at the end is appreciated. Watching the clouds pass by in this video reminds me of the afternoons I spent doing the same in Florence… sitting on the steps of the Piazza del Duomo. Ah the perks of having friends...

The kid has got aim, and lots of free time
Watch until the pennies start flying…I can’t be the only one that starts laughing out loud….just wait until the bottles start getting picked off by the the copper* coins. A “how-to” is available here.
*after some research, pennies since 1982 are made of 99.2% zinc and 0.8% copper. Now we both know.

VIDEO: Marvin Gaye overshadows American Idol
American Idol….I’ve probably seen a total of 28 minutes of the show, ever. And yeah, the “Pants on the Ground” guy is funny (thanks YouTube). But I’m going to have to side with John Mayer’s tweet …..
So I took his advice, here’s 6 minutes of your suggested 30. “Let’s Get it On” Thanks Marvin.

MOTIVATED: the gym and iFitness
Hey there. I’m glad you are reading but I hope this isn’t just one in a long line of websites you plan on visiting rather than doing something active. One reason I won’t be a fat ass this year is iFitness. I had no idea about setting up a proper workout until I bought this app for my iPod Touch. Going to the gym 3-4 days a week is enjoyable as opposed to a cause of stress....

FUNNY: Stana Katic
This past week I got some good news. The owners of a two family rental property on Tipp Hill that I’ve been looking at accepted my offer! Yup. I’m soon to have my own place. I’ll be posting photos as things progress.
Just this morning I was reading Esquire and saw Stana (see below) and found her joke not only funny, but timely. Ms. Katic is featured in the Feb 2010 issue of...

FILM & ARCHITECTURE: The Third & The Seventh
I’ve grown to have a great appreciation for architecture over the last year working for a millwork company. Countless images of real buildings that utilize natural light in amazing ways. When I came across this CGI (computer generated) film I was intrigued. After watching it twice and learning that this really is CGI I was blown away. It’s REALLY a mastery of the medium. Below are...

MUSIC VIDEO: Charlotte Gainsbourg - Trick Pony
Read about Charlotte today, and how Beck produced her new album. For me, Beck is like mint chocolate chip ice cream…..just say the word and I’ll stop to see what’s churning. On this tune the drums and clanging guitars play rough over her sweet rock vocals.

Appreciating: Vera Farmiga
Can you place where you’ve seen her?
It was Esquire for me. Then realized she was the hot one in The Departed. Come to find out she’s in the new Clooney film “Up in the Air.” Vera makes 36 look good, and makes the weeknight snowfall a bit more bearable.

Need help deciding on a resolution?
Need help deciding on a resolution? Well then my friends, the New Year’s Resolution Generator isn’t a bad place to start. I like the one it generated for me (see above). I’ve got a seasons ski pass to Togg and am submitting my application to volunteer with ARISE & Ski on the weekends at Togg.

FILM: Man on Wire
Yesterday I watched Man on Wire, a 2008 documentary film directed by James Marsh.
[As taken from wikipedia] The film chronicles Philippe Petit’s 1974 high-wire walk between the Twin Towers of New York’s World Trade Center. It is based on Philippe Petit’s book, To Reach the Clouds, recently released in paperback with the new title Man on Wire.
The film is crafted like a heist...

Music: Cold War Kids "Audience of One"
Looks like the Cold War Kids from California just released an EP called “Behave Yourself.” I’ve had the first track from the 4 song EP “Audience of One” on repeat all evening. Below is a YouTube video for the song. It plays over a slideshow of band photos. Check ‘em out here (NOTE: I don’t think their graphic designer on their site is as engaging.)
