78 Things You Don't Know About Johnny Cash
My personal favorites… 8. He took only one voice lesson, after which the teacher advised him not to let anyone change the way he sang. 11. Though he was never in prison, Cash served a total of 7 nights in jail for different incidents. 24. Cash’s advice on living life on the road: “Back in 1957, there was no Extra Crispy. Other than that, it’s the same.” 26. The first time Cash met...

TV: Austin City Limits w/Avett Brothers
Just learned about Clicker.com today.  It’s like a TV Guide for the Internet.  I came across a series called “Austin City Limits” that I never actually catch when it airs on TV, but thanks to PBS.org I can watch some great bands live from my MacBook Pro. When I saw that The Avett Brothers live set was on, I started watching…and still am as I type.  I saw them play at The...

Weekend skiing Whiteface Lake Placid!
I spent the weekend in Lake Placid with the Arise & Ski volunteers as part of the Empire State Games for the Physically Challenged..  Two days of skiing down from the summit, the highest in the Northeast, with a new group of ski buddies was time well spent. I’m now one step closer to making my job title “Ski Bum.” It was also pretty cool seeing Lake Placid, the home of...

ROAD TRIPPING THE POWDER HIGHWAY WITH POC &...
From Oct to Dec 2008 I traveled through Colorado, Idaho, Oregon and Washington on the Warren Miller ski film tour via Corona (the official after screen party host).  On the tour we got to hang out with the Warren Miller film production guys, and that’s where I came across Tatsuno. While drinking beers at the hotel with the Warren Miller and Corona boys on Halloween in Eugene, Oregon Tats...

British chef Jamie Oliver was given the $100,000 TED Prize on Wednesday night, and you can watch his impassioned plea for America (and the world) to embrace a healthy food movement in the video here. It got me motivated to look up his books and start cooking again. check out Jamie’s website here

Rosa Muerta Joshua Tree Home by Robert Stone
With a high of 66 degrees F, and low of 41 today it could make for a cool place to spend next Valentine’s Day, or a weekend escape at a later date. Rent the $200/night room here. Rock star architect Robert Stone has designed and constructed a vacation home unlike anything we’ve seen before.  The Rosa Muerta Joshua Tree Home is a desert sanctuary designed for those who need a true...

your path to happiness
Flow diagrams make things a bit clearer. They cut the BS, discard “emotion” and give clear cut options and their subsequent outcomes. For anyone who’s starting 2010 a little unsure of themselves and need a mental kicking in the butt, take another at the above flow diagram damn it. via (you might like this)

7 degrees, no Bacon: Getting Emma to Brazil
(above) Em and Johnny in Costa Rica outside our hotel. On Feb 5th I was talking with my cousin Emma (world traveler, cool girl, gets my sense of humor, and has called places like Ghana, and Brazil home from months on end living among “the people”), while I was driving back to Syracuse from an Albany business meeting. We were chatting about how she feels spent at her job (first...

Olympics 2016 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
Intro to Rio de Janeiro Video 1. Olympic Cadidate video promo Video 2. Master Plan fly over, really cool.  Get a lesson on Brazil geography. I’m not familiar with that song that everyone in Brazil seems to know, but spend any time outside of the USA and you’ll see how other countries celebrate their homeland with songs and chants, like those you’d hear at a soccer game abroad....
