FILM: Gonzo: The Life and Work of Dr. Hunter S. Thompson

Netflix_ Netflix Movie Viewer-19

Today I was reunited with an old friend, Mrs. Netflix.

If you don’t subscribe to her, or feel that your film IQ is slightly lower than you’d like it (or maybe you just prefer to let American Idol arrest your eyes and mind), might I suggest that you take another look at the goodness that Netflix offers.

Sure you probably know the drill.  Find a film you want to watch, wait for it in the mail.  Pop the popcorn, watch the film. Return it to the mailbox.  Then repeat.

Well, señor, think again.  Now in addition to the snail mail version Netflix sweetens the deal.  You can also stream (read: watch instantly) unlimited films on your PC or Mac computer.  I popped my online Netflix cherry today with “Gonzo: The Life and Work of Dr. Hunter S. Thompson.”

Ever seen the film adaptation of Hunter’s novel “Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas” with Johnny Deep?  Johnny played the role of Hunter S. Thompson.

Are you a student of media studies?  Then chances are you’d know he wrote for Rolling Stone in the 70s covering topics like the Hell’s Angels, his run to be sheriff of Aspen, Colorado and the 1976 Presidential Campaign of which his journalism stongly contributed to Jimmy Carter’s eventual victory over Gerald Ford.

Intrigued? Peep the film. It’s website.
In the meantime peep the trailer for the film below.
