You are listening to: Bon Iver “Skinny Love” from the album For Emma, Forever Ago.

The album title and my cousin share a name. It’s a coincidence, really. But moving on….
In For Emma, Forever Ago, Bon Iver’s Justin Vernon sings in a heartbreaking falsetto. Vernon wrote the album’s songs while living in a remote cabin one winter in northwestern Wisconsin, where he’d gone to exorcise some inner demons. For Emma, Forever Ago perfectly captures the isolation and chilly heartache of the period in which it’s recorded. (as taken from NPR.org)
Click here to hear Bon Iver’s set from SXSW 2008, that’s short of South by Southwest…a music festival in Austin, Texas from March 13, 2008. If you aren’t hip to NPR’s music programs sit tight and stay tuned. I’ll post about about it in the future….then again you could just poke around yourself. It’s all sorta like a treasure hunt. At least I hope it is.
As for the song, I like the way he sings. You could hear the song and not understand English but still get the emotional message. It’s pretty powerful. I just listened to it 4 times in a row.

Fave lyric:
I told you to be patient / I told you to be fine
I told you to be balanced / I told you to be kind
In the morning I’ll be with you / But it will be a different “kind”
I’ll be holding all the tickets / And you’ll be owning all the fines
