FILM: Oasis’ “Dig Out…In The Streets”
Oasis - Dig Out Your Soul In The Streets
I’ll tell ya what, I’m a fan of Oasis. When I was in England for my junior year of university I lived with 10 kids. Some British, some American, some French, some Chinese, and some full of it.
There was one kid, Ian, who loved two things; Oasis and the Norwich City Football Club. God bless him. I also remember one thing that he didn’t love…smelling clean, but I digress. Anyway, Ian and I had an ongoing game where we’d try to slip titles or lyrics from Oasis songs into casual conversation.
Even now, close to six years later I’m still digging the band. Their latest album, “Dig Out Your Soul,” is filled with rock, soul and psychedelia. I remember hearing that prior to the album coming out that they taught four of the new songs to buskers (aka street musicians) in NYC and set the musicians free to hip the unsuspecting public in the subways to the new tunes. Genius, and very simple.
Oh, and when you are done watching the above video check out my film-maker friend, Matt Adams’ film “Buskers.” It came out long before the Oasis album, but just proves that he’s ahead of the curve. Also, check out more from Matt at www.MattAdamsApple.com.
